Fun with Dehydrating

Event Description:

Learn the basics of dehydrating and why it is an excellent food preservation method. In this class, you’ll have exposure to a wide array of dehydrated foods – fruit roll-ups, dehydrated fruits & veggies, gourmet “sun-dried” tomatoes, kale chips, green powder, herbs, granola, and more.


We’ll discuss:

  • What foods can I dehydrate?

  • How do I prepare the produce?

  • How long do I dehydrate and at what temperature?

  • Is it possible to dehydrate and retain live enzymes?

  • How do I know when it's done?

  • How do I store my dehydrated foods?

  • What about blanching?

  • What is the best way to dehydrate my garden herbs?

  • How long will my dehydrated foods last?

  • How do I rehydrate foods?

  • What is a good dehydrator to use?

  • What are some non-produce foods that I can dehydrate?
